A creative showcase giving our visitors the opportunity to find the finest, most interesting Bristol made gifts under one roof... yours! With your work available in our shop for the entire month of December, we hope this open's up more time for your precious creative endevours during the festive season. 

The shop is run by the makers (around 60 all together!) with 2 of us opening and closing the shop each day. Not being a market, space isn't allocated on a per table design, but instead, it is carefully curated by management to allow for optimum shopability for all. 

 

Work in the shop is selected not only for its quality, character and shop-ability, but for it's sustainability too. If you consider things such as locally sourced materials, minimal packaging and eco processes, let us know in your application. 

Spaces in the shop are limited, and in order to avoid product clashes, we do have to be selective with applications. We apologise that we can't accept everybody, but please don't let this hinder your creative confidence! 

Covid 19 

We feel very lucky to have access to this wonderful space that allows for a one way system and social distancing, especially as so many markets currently cannot run safely. Our long opening times allows for people to come at any time of day and an option will be available for people who may be vulnerable to book a private visit. We will be keeping an eye on all government advice and be working closely with the Island to ensure the project is as safe as possible for all involved.

 

Commission and shift info

It is essential to have some of the stockists working in the shop and most of our traders quite enjoy their time in store. It's a chance to engange with customers, meet other makers that you will be working with and also a chance to check on your stock levels. The shifts are five hours long and there is always two people working. A rota will be sent to all traders doing shifts in early November and you can select the ones that suit you best.

  • Shop open Tuesday 1st December - Thursday 24th December

  • Monday - Saturday 10:00 - 20:00 & Sunday 11:00- 16:00

  • At The Island gallery space, Bridewell Street, Bristol City Centre, BS12LE

  • Trader Fee - £60

  • Commission on sales is on a sliding scale with shifts worked (details below)

  • Stock drop off date : during last week of  November (exact dates TBC).

  • Application deadline : Monday 14th September

  • Public Liability Insurance essential.

  • This is a shop set up so the space is carefully curated by management.

What is a primary and secondary product?

Over the years, we have learnt that many creative businesses may make many different kinds of products. Please let us know which items you consider your main sellers and which are extra's, as we will prioritise stocking your main items but cannot guarantee your secondary items won't clash with other people's primary items in the shop.

 

Morning shift:    10:00 - 15:00

Evening shift:     15:00 - 20:00

Sundays:           11:00 - 16:00

No shifts -         40% commission

2 shifts -            20% commission

3+ shifts -          10% commission

*We will aim to allocate the option selected in application, but there is limited availabilty for each choice and we may choose the next closest option for you.

Some may find completing the application form on mobile phones problematic, we advise using a computer if possible.
